There are a handful of blogs I follow because they always have valuable tips, food for thought, and overall good advice.
I learned about The Archdruid Report from a link in Khadija's sidebar. I ignored it for months, but one day I clicked. Long Descent or not, Peak Oil or not, his blog is a valuable resource. Here's an example of all around good advice: Resolutions for a Post-Peak New Year
Now, I realize it's not the New Year, but every month, every week, every day is a new start and another chance to improve one's self and situation. Go to the blog for the full description, but here are some highlights:
1. Cut back on your gasoline consumption.
I know darn good and well that I waste too much gas running hither and yon, and if I planned out my trips I would save time AND money.
2. Plant an organic vegetable garden.
I've actually already done this, so it's more a matter of keeping better records, staying on top of weeding/pest control, and planning next year's expansion and what to do better.
3. Compost your food waste
With as large a family as I have, there are alot of carrot tops and potato peels that could be turned into fertility for the garden. Planet friendly, and wallet-friendly too.
Head over to JMG's blog for the full list. I plan to implement alot of these suggestions myself.
